Marquis de Sade's Justine
Marquis de Sade's Justine
The Marquis de Sade's Name gave the world the word sadism, the love of giving and inflicting pain while deriving sexual pleasure from the act, as well as several novels, including the notorious Justine, or The Misfortunes of Virtue (1791). Justine s publication led to de Sade s being imprisoned for the last 13 years of his life after Napoleon Bonaparte described it as the the most abominable book ever engendered by the most depraved imagination .This film version, previously heavily censored, is released here completely uncut and in all its dubious glory. Justine tells the tale of two beautiful sisters, Juliette, an amoral nymphomaniac, and Justine, who seeks a life of chastity and virtue. Unfortunately for Justine, while her depraved sister finds nothing but success and happiness, she suffers constant despair and abuse, being raped, tortured, whipped, and accused of theft amongst umpteen other disasters during her turbulent young life.
Directed by the infamous/notorious Jess Franco (Vampyros Lesbos), this dusturbing tale involves a young girl (Romina Power) who is thrown out of an orphanage and falls prey to prostitution, bondage, and a depraved monk played by Jack Palance. This story of innocence corrupted comes straight from the pen of the Marquis de Sade, and no less an actor than Klaus Kinski is chosen by Franco to play De Sade in this feature. Full of nudity and perversion, this sordid tale includes over 30 minutes of restored footage originally cut from the final version.
Justine is one of the most lavish and bizarre erotic shockers ever made by the notorious Jess Franco, bursting with wanton nudity, sexual perversion, and an all star cast... b
Romina Power (18 year old Daughter of Tyrone power) stars as Justine, a nubile young Virgin cast out of a French orphanage and thrust into a depraved world of Prostitution, predatory Lesbians, a fugitive murderess (Mercedes McCambridge), bondage, branding and one supremely sadistic monk (an outrageous performance by Jack Palance). It's a twisted tale of strange desires, perverse pleasures and the ultimate corruption of innocence as told by the Marquis de Sade
